UMAT website

UMAT

UMAT is developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) on behalf of the UMAT Consortium universities. The test is used specifically to assist with the selection of students into the medicine, dentistry and health science degree programs at undergraduate level at the universities listed on this website.

UMAT scores can be used for admission to any of the UMAT Consortium universities ONLY in the year following the test. For example, results from UMAT2017 can be used for undergraduate medicine or health science courses beginning in 2018 but NOT 2019. Do not register for UMAT2017 unless you are planning to apply for a course commencing in 2018 AND you meet the eligibility criteria specified in the UMAT2017 Information Booklet.

TAFE AT SCHOOLS - SLAS - 2017 TAFE Students only

Course & Orientation Information - Bundaberg

Hi All,

As you know our TAFE at School courses are kicking off very soon - which is both an exciting and busy time! Our Trades courses in particular have their orientations starting next week (week commencing 30 January), and the majority of our other courses are beginning the following week (week commencing 6 February).

Communication regarding orientation and course info has went out already to the majority of our TAFE at School students.
This week we have received a huge influx of new applications and enquiries which we are processing as quickly as we can. As students are enrolled, we will continue to send their orientation information via email to their student and parent email address.

Please find attached Course & Orientation information for all our Bundaberg courses. We hope this information is useful to you for any enquiries you receive. A campus map is also attached.

Don’t forget, if you have access to our Pathways system, you are able to view, approve and track all of your student’s applications to TAFE at School programs. We will continue to work really hard to get any new students enrolled, send orientation letters and we will continue to do so right up until the start of study.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the TAFE at School team – Carly Forrest, School Engagement Consultant 5457 1262 or Naomi Richards School Engagement Officer 5457 1169.

Kind regards,
Naomi Richards

TAFE at School Electrotechnology - Bundaberg

As you are aware, we had to withdraw our TAFE at School Cert. II Electrotechnology offering last year, as we did not have a teacher available to deliver the course. I am very pleased to inform you we have now appointed a new teacher, Neville Arbon, who will commence next week. Neville is a highly experienced Electrotechnology teacher, who has been working with school students in his former role.

As part of Neville’s appointment, we are now in a position to offer the Cert. II Electrotechnology from our Bundaberg campus or if your school has a large number of students interested we may be able to deliver the program from your school campus. We would be able to offer this course on a MondayTuesday or Friday, with numbers determining which day would be selected. This program is a VETiS funded course for eligible students.

If you would like to express interest in this opportunity, please reply to this email with your number of students interested and preferred day of the week. We would aim to commence classes ideally the w/c 30th January or at the latest w/c 6thFebruary.

Kind regards,
Carly

Pathway options for your Students after Year 12 - Empowering Youth Initiative opportunity.

Thank you for contacting me back in regards to A-Class driving Centre.

This course runs from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm four days a week over a 26 week period. Youth aged 17-24 can enrol at any time.

Students complete a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. Additionally, students gain work ready skills through completing daily chores such as cleaning, photocopying, collating, answering the telephone and other ad-hoc duties.

We also provide training ourselves and or, via guest speakers, covering a range of topics such as, managing stress, developing at work, workplace health and safety, personal hygiene, communication, body language, customer service and teamwork.

The course includes a two week work placement in the industry of the students choice. In the final few weeks we assist with interview preparation, mock interviews and applying for suitable roles.

We have a Pathways Officer who will work with the students throughout the program and help them source careers of interest, in addition to the pathways they need, to reach their goal.

There is no cost to the student for the course. They just need their learners licence or be willing to get this in the first few weeks of the course. By attending the course, students earn mock dollars to pay for driving lessons with a qualified driving instructor.

My current students are nearing the end of their course and the personal growth as well as confidence, is clearly evident.

Please let me know when you would like to arrange for me to speak to your students in relation to this wonderful Empowering Youth Initiative opportunity.

Thank you

Kindest Regards
