Overview of the School to Work Transition Programs; GenR8 (Logistics) and AllevE8 (Health Support);

Hi Peter

Lovely meeting you this morning!

As promised, please find following an overview of the School to Work Transition Programs; GenR8 (Logistics) and AllevE8 (Health Support);

·         Both programs are industry led youth attraction and employment pathways for Year 12 Students.
·         Designed to address workforce planning issues and fully supported by local healthcare organisations and is facilitated by the Dept. of Education and Training.
·         Programs run over the full school year.
·         2 elements to programs – students gain a Certificate II in logistics / health support and 20 days (1 day a week) structured work experience with a host employer.
·         The student will have 1 day per week over the school year in either training or a work placement.
·         DET case manages the programs (my role) with informal and formal meetings and an evaluation at the conclusion of the program.

Process for programs;

·         July start talking to Year 11’s, followed up by workshops if needed.
·         August/September an Information night is held with employers, students, parents, guardians and schools in attendance.
·         September EOI’s close and shortlisting begins over a couple of weeks by interviewing all students in October.
·         November students attend interviews with employers.
·         Aim to notify all students if they have been successful/unsuccessful in gaining a placement by the end of Year 11. They will definitely know prior to Christmas (mine will know this week).
·         **October hold a graduation for current year’s students.
·         Students are sent their personalised schedules as well as all parties as above.
·         Following year program begins with training a few weeks into Term 1.

Cheers
Michelle
